Question The choice conundrum RTX4070 or RX6950XT at Today's prices ?

I need an opinion because it's incredibly difficult at this time to choose due to today's prices .

I Trust Tom's Hardware but reviews on GPUs dont take into account the current market status and are therefore skewed.

History : I Just RMAed an NITRO+ RX6800XT (that I liked, but malfunctioned, Less than 1 year !), was reimbursed 739,99€

Now I have a very difficult choice to make :

- Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Gaming OC 12GB GDDR6X (729,90€) .
or
- XFX Radeon RX 6950XT Speedster MERC Black Gaming 16GB GDDR6 (670,90€)

For my Kid (14) that plays mainly GTA V, mainly plays at 1080P (Best Settings possible)

4070ti is a strecth (+140€), and with the low RAM it doesn't sound that good

What would you choose and why ?

RX6800 or RX6800XT again. Doesn't take that much to run GTAV at max settings 1080p, 6800XT is more of an entry level 4K card or 1440p 144hz card.

Save the money for a different upgrade or the next GPU.

No need to put the stress on the power supply and heat up the room with a more powerful GPU.

6800XT 300W
6800 250W
4070 200W

Though I am seeing many 4070 for closer to 630€ in various European countries, and occasionally 6950XT for about the same.

At 1080p there aren't very many games that 12GB isn't enough for.
