here is my spec
intel core2 duo E8400
asus p5kvm
2x2gb ddr2 800mhz
corsair cs 550m psu
128gb ssd
500gb hdd
gts 450 1gb
The problem is ,when i switch on the computer after a long time say after 5 to 8 hours, the computer gets stuck on the windows boot logo then after i press the restart button ,the BIOS prompts as "CMOS settings wrong",i had to reconfigure the settings since default values detect only my HDD as the 1st boot drive not my SSD.why is this happening ?

Could be many reasons.

1. Check your SATA cables.... make sure that the SSD is plugged into the lowest numbered SATA port on MoBo.

2. Unplug the HD cable and boot to BIOS with just the SSD connected. After resetting CMOS, reset all BIOS settings to default. Then make sure it is set to boot from SSD 1st.

3. Save and exit, allow to boot to windows and shut down.

4. Connect HD to 2nd lowest numbered SATA port on MoBo. Boot to BIOS and make sure the SATA devices are listed accordingly in order.

SSD
HD
Optical (if ya have one)

5. Check boot order on boot tab, should be same tho SSD, Optical, HD works too of you don't keep a backup boot on HD.

i have replaced the CMOS battery , but still the problem exists

I would make sure all cables, connections, ram, expansion cards, ect are seated properly, thermal cycling can cause things to unplug slowly over time. And like others have said you might try resetting the bios. If you have a socketed bios make sure it is in all way

I wouldn't start venturing down these paths w/o getting the obvious out of the way. Resetting CMOS and taking the steps outlined in step 3 would eliminate the most obvious causes.

i did the following steps and now i'm getting a new problem.
1)updated the BIOS to the latest version
2)Reassembled the entire system
3)changed the CMOS battery
The CMOS error problem seems to be solved but an another error called "chassis intruded system Halted !" error is coming ,i have cleared the RTC timer and BIOS by removing the battery but after i restart again this problem arises .

i did see the manual ,but the problem is there was no information on how to disable it
