[SOLVED] The current 8TB My Books from WD aren't helium cooled like the old ones were, correct? I have one and I hate it...

I have one of WD's old 8TB My Books and it's a helium cooled drive and I can't stand it! It's louder, slower to spin up from an idle state... I've turned it into my "last resort" backup so I don't have to deal with it very often. lol I was looking at getting a current 8TB My Book but I wanted to make sure it wasn't still a helium cooled drive.

Thanks!

Solution
If I had to guess, the drive is probably louder due to the higher number of platters it uses to reach 8TB compared to a lower-capacity drive, not the helium. Likewise, it might take a bit longer to spin up due to the heavier stack of platters as well.

If anything, a helium-filled drive might actually be a little quieter than a similar design filled with air, due to the reduced air friction over the surface of the platters.

Solution
Can confirm this as my 8tb my book is the same way it's slow, noisy, needs a fan over it takes too long to spin up where it halts everything if I leave it on idle. WD support says it's normal because of how they designed the drive even though my 4tb doesn't have this "feature"
