So... okay.
I have an ASUS Strix 970, and I want to run two monitors with it.
Now it's a bit unique how it runs.

It has one DVI port with the 4 extra pins, and one without them, one HDMI, and one Displayport.
I've tried using several adapters with little success.
A 24+1 DVI adapter refuses to display any video from it, looking back at it, it's probably because it says DVI below that specific one.
The HDMI port yields video, but it's low quality, and not like, "ugh, it's only 1080p", it's not capable of going above 1024 x 768.
The DisplayPort is the last one I haven't tried yet, and I don't want to waste any more money buying a DisplayPort to VGA adapter and having it not work.
Also, for further specifications, my second monitor has one VGA port, and nothing else.

So more or less, the question is, will a DisplayPort to VGA adapter work for 1440 by 900?

Solution
So attach the second VGA-only monitor to the DVI port with the extra pins, and your first monitor (which it is implied supports something other than VGA) to whichever other outputs it supports.

I'm currently on that driver (344.75), and used a 24+1 adapter to VGA on the 24+1 slot, and it didn't work.
This is what the adapter's end looks like. (DVI end.)
