according to windows when I try to update drivers, they have the best ones. I don't know if I trust that. I just saw this that somebody posted elsewhere....... "This is a great PC for the money but it has one major flaw. The on-board network controller (Nvidia NForce) works only when it feels like it. Evidentally the Nvidia Network Controller has an inherent problem with the 64bit Win7 operating system. Google this and you'll see what I mean. As long as you're prepared to spend another $20 to $40 bucks for a decent PCIe LAN card I'd say go ahead and buy it." Have you heard of this?
Download the Nforce 4 Driver from the motherboard manufacturer. Vista drivers will work on Win7 in most cases. But use the windows IDE/SATA driver for better stability.
Windows drivers work for compatibility but not speed.
Also remove the option to update hardware drivers in windows update.
I put together an older computer for the wife's boutique using an Nforce 4 board and experienced the same problem.
Thank you for that. I will try that.
