What could cause the download speed on my network card for the AX3400G-U4802 to be slower than it should be? The line integrity has been verified by test equipment and a regular consumer laptop. My ISP sends promised up to 30mbps on download and 10mbps on upload (fiber). I get 28.8mbps on the download but only 1.3mbps on the upload. Both the test equipment and the laptop registers 9.6 on the upload. What could be causing this issue?

Solution

Download the Nforce 4 Driver from the motherboard manufacturer. Vista drivers will work on Win7 in most cases. But use the windows IDE/SATA driver...

The download is fine. It's the upload that is having the issue. I should be getting close to 10mbps (as advertised) but i only get 1.5mbps. my laptop get 9.5 on the upload.

Drivers up to date?

according to windows when I try to update drivers, they have the best ones. I don't know if I trust that. I just saw this that somebody posted elsewhere....... "This is a great PC for the money but it has one major flaw. The on-board network controller (Nvidia NForce) works only when it feels like it. Evidentally the Nvidia Network Controller has an inherent problem with the 64bit Win7 operating system. Google this and you'll see what I mean. As long as you're prepared to spend another $20 to $40 bucks for a decent PCIe LAN card I'd say go ahead and buy it." Have you heard of this?

I've not heard of that specifically, but a PCI card might be worth a try. If you're getting 9.6 on the laptop, then everything from the ISP would appear to be working correctly.

the tests comes back as 14XX kbps. I convert it to mbps as 1.4. On the laptop and test equipment the results comes back as 95XX kbps (9.5mbps).

Download the Nforce 4 Driver from the motherboard manufacturer. Vista drivers will work on Win7 in most cases. But use the windows IDE/SATA driver for better stability.
Windows drivers work for compatibility but not speed.
Also remove the option to update hardware drivers in windows update.

I put together an older computer for the wife's boutique using an Nforce 4 board and experienced the same problem.
