The fan in my power supply is making noise

the fan in my power supply makes a grinding noise not constantly but regularly sometimes soft sometimes loud but when you tap the desk it quits for a min then starts making noise again.when i shut off my computer for the night and then when i start it back up its quiet for a while.Can anything be done without buying a new power supply. thank you.

Have you tried opening it up? There could be some cables coming down and touching the PSU fan. If that's not the problem, then it could just be a faulty PSU.

Most likely the lubricating film on the PSU's cooling fan bearing has evaporated.

If the PSU is till under warranty you can RMA it.
