Hey dhlucke!
A friend of mine was asking me about a gaming TFT. What I'd like to know is... first of all he's looking into a 19"
TFT monitor. I've been checking on monitors left and right but they all have different specifications. He wants to use it for gaming and is looking to pay around 400Euro for it. Haven't seen anything under 500Euro for a 19". Anyways, this is what he looked into; an Iiyama ProLite E430S-B. I googled it but there's no reviews and another thing I found out is this is a 17".
Here's the specs for it:
Colour Black
Size Horizontal/Vertical 270.3 x 337.9 mm
Point Size 0,264 mm
Resolution 1.3 megapixels (1280 x 1024)
Brightness 300 cd/m²
Contrast 700 : 1
Viewing Angle Horizontal/Vertical 150/135
Waiting Time 8 ms
Video Inlets/Type D-Sub mini 15 PIN
Frequency Page Horizontal: 24 – 80 KHz
Vertical: 55 - 75 Hz
USB Hub No
Audio Loudspeakers 2 x 1,5 W (Stereo)
Max. Consumption 39 W
Size 368.5 x 323.5 x 53 without base
Weight 4.1 kg
I realize from THG reviews of TFTs that for games to be enjoyed you'd have to have at least a minimum of 1024x768,
@least 300 cd/m², a contrast of 500:1 and at least a wait time of 12ms or lower.
Taking into account that it's only a 17" the asking price is 266,66Euro + 10,00Euro for shipping and handling. That about right?
I've read into TFTs but I'm out of my league as far as recommending one.
BTW, he plays HL2, CS Source, Doom3, The whole Tom Clancy Rainbow collection, Black Hawk Down etc.
Thx.
