Hope that it's not the hottest or loudest card on earth.
or if so it would put the PCs on fire. :)
an ATI owner, but supporter of the competiton between both.

hardly worthy of the gtx580 moniker, it's basically what the gtx480 was supposed to be (16 SMs) so why not call it gtx485 or gtx490?

Both ATi and Nvidia are raping their naming schemes, what a surprise

Techpowerup appears to be dead, 502 gateway?

Well, it is a good card performance wise, but I want some power consumption numbers. In another news, I have been hearing that Radeon 6970 will be capable of 230 GB/s. If that is true, this card won't be the fastest single GPU for long.

Going by the google cached page, Nvidia was probably going to get mad at them due to NDA breach for this:
"Apart from the GeForce GTX 580, GPU-Z 0.4.8 supports GeForce GT 420 and GT 440 (which are currently OEM-only products)."

Or the fact they already have a review up for a thing under NDA lol.

According to http://www.overclock.net/hardware-news/862019-tpu-nvidia-geforce-gtx-580-now.html it has a hardware limited 300w power consumption. Not sure personally, still going over the reading material same as every other nerd up at early morning (eastern).

I'm sure that just by naming it with a new gen name(580 instead of 485) they will sell more based on the name due to people thinking this new gen is going to be so much faster. Just have to get the most money you can out of the market or you will let the competition pull ahead.
If this is still at 40nm, how are they going to power this card with it having 32 more cuda cores and 10% more clock speed?
