I've finally put up a (reasonable) beta version of 'The Golden French
Fry' (my
latest text adventure). Also looking for beta testers (for game
testing).
The game can be downloaded at:

(scroll down to the middle of the webpage, where it says "The Golden
French Fry" -- just above a picture of the game's screenshot)

'The Golden French Fry' (v1.03)
By: Paul Panks (dunric@yahoo.com)
Requires: Windows 95/98/NT/Me/2000 or XP

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Game Intro
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Your parents have left you alone for the weekend (pity them, right?)
and
they've left you only a few dollars and some food. With nothing else
on the
agenda for the weekend, you'd like to eat some food, watch some
super-fly
television and perhaps invite a few of your home boys over for a
session of
spider weed. You're a drop out junkie, and it's gonna stay that way,
yo!
You vaguely recall your mother warning you about the 'golden french
fry'
(what is that, anyway?), and something else very vague about a dragon
lurking in the basement. But other than that, you know little else...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Installation
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Unzip the entire contents of the zip file "frefry.zip" (there should
be
4 files in total) to a directory of your choice (e.g. "C:\FRYGAME").
The files needed by the game are:
FREFRY.EXE - The main executable file. This is the game itself.
FREFRY.DAT - The main data file. Used by the game for room
descriptions.
FREFRY.BAS - The BASIC source code of the game. Not required, but it
helps.
FREFRY.TXT - This text file (that you are currently reading now).
Be sure that FREFRY.EXE and FREFRY.DAT are in the same directory, or
the game will not work!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
How to play
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This game is a text adventure. You can play anyway you like, but
keep in mind that to move about (or do anything useful), you must
enter in one or two word
commands.
These commands are structured in the following manner:
<verb> <noun>
For example, typing 'go north' will move your player one room to the
north.
You may also enter one word commands (such as 'inventory'), or
abbreviations
(such as 'i').
Commands include:
GO,GET,DROP,USE,EXAMINE,LOOK,CLIMB,EAT,DRINK,INVENTORY,SCORE,
LIGHT,PLAY,KILL and QUIT.
If all else fails, you can also e-mail me at: dunric@yahoo.com
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Thoughts
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Not all of the items that the 'examine' command views have been fully
implemented as of yet. However, the next release should have the
remainder
of the rooms implemented.
