Good - A couple of months back I posted about loosing a bunch of gear
and feeling unhappy about it. I completed IK a few days back, I'd
started building a barb in anticipation of a complete set (I found Soul
Cage first - so I wasnt fazed about finding the rest) -- all of a
sudden I am in Hell and able to kill things, immunes - even physical
immunes are no longer a problem. My level 76 Barb was having a solo
workout and was just getting ready for Mephisto ....... An Amazon
joined, we worked great together. Fun chatter as well.

..... then other people started joining. First of all was a Necromancer
that just stood around in the corner following us. I asked if he was
unwilling to help that he at least cast AP for me once in a while.
During a big melee he finally decided to protect himself by enclosing
me and the Zon in a bone wall -- we both died .... the Necro finally
left, we made it downto Mephisto with seven folks.

People suddenly wanted to skip killing the council members in
Mephisto's lair - somebody opened a TP next to Mephisto. I stood back
and kept plugging away on the bystanders and Mephisto ran riot on them
all - finally they ran brining Mephisto with them. I was in one of the
small rooms with Mephisto, a couple of council members and Dark Lords.
All because some spaz level 67 decided he was gonna take charge.

Finally a Barb came down, started chopping away - then used his BO and
Shout and that ceiled it, before I knew what was going on I was dead.
His BO/Shout combo took my defense from 13000 to nothing, it could not
have been any higher than a few points.

I gave up. The thing about Hell and Battlenet is so many people rush
these days they dont actually know how to play, they even want to Rush
through Hell which I do not get because thats what the game IMHO is
about - doing well in Hell. Why would you want to Rush through hell?
There is nothing afterwards - After completing each and every act 1-3
quest I was totally happy that finally I could work in Hell - Is it all
just about showing off and being l337 these days?

It seems so few people actually play the game.

After not having played for quite some time, two friends of mine and myself
decided it would be fun to build a new character. We created new accounts
in an other realm to create a new and clean start.

Once a week - we don't play that often - we play our characters together
and quest and level together. Because we started new characters in new
accounts on new realms we are forced to live of the land - almost
everything you find is interesting and a potential new weapon. Great fun!

We also decided to try and create a real party - characters whose skills
are useful to others and themselves. We are working with a sorceress for
the elemental damage, a paladin as a tank and a necromancer that functions
as a meat-shield with all of his revives (when he grows up :)).

It's fun, fun, fun to make a fresh start once in a while! No rushing, no
1337 items and because we play passworded games - no lurkers/leechers.

i do agaree with that i hate it when im out tanking with my level 86 ik barb
and some idiot with a CtA or real low level barb crys over mine as i have
level 32 BO and level 30 shout (soon to be 32) i have about 3.3k hitpoint
and was in a game one day and was ending up with less the 2k and i was
getting real pissed to the extent i left the game as he would not listen

i have a good freind i play with lot and we will most often end up in a
passwored game just to keep those lurker and tag alongs away

i hear ya.

i don't play online multiplayer, but i've played D2 at several LAN
parties. my boyfriend and i have been playing multiplayer together
for three years, and like you, every time we play, it's an adventure.
we create a two party team that compliments each other, we move slowly
through the maps, we complete everything, making sure our maps are
fully drawn out, and collect all the items, gold, etc. when required,
we pass each other gold to buy better items, because as a team, it's
better. one person collects runes, and we split the gems down the
middle (he usually collects rubys, sapphires, emeralds and skulls,
while i get the others and runes). makes it easier when we get our
cubes to combine them.

when we played multiplayer at LAN parties, we found *one* person out
of over a dozen who actually complimented our style of play. everyone
else we played with ran willy nilly across the map, leaving items
everywhere. at one point, when doing the countess quest in act 1, the
assassin just kept going further and further ahead in the building.
he reached the countess long before us. guess what? he died. he
wanted us to portal him in so he could get the XP and follow us. we
told him to ah heck off.

find a group of people that want to play the same way as you do and
meet up with them. looks like there are some of those types of
players here. ask on other message boards. lock your games, so you
don't get idiots ruining it for you. we stopped playing multiplayer
with others. they pissed us off way too much. now, we just do
multiplayers together exclusively.
