The "K" after a CPU model?

I googled what the K means but it just said something about being unlocked could someone elaborate on this please? thanskss just because its alot more expensive but why?

'K' class cpus are 'unlocked' multipliers. Basically, you only want the 'k' type cpu if you plan to overclock.

The K usually means that the CPU is unlocked, but like you said what does that mean,

It means the CPU is available to overclock which is to make it word harder than its stock state, to simplify it, read more below about overclocking;

It enables the possibility to overclock the CPU. If you are not going to overclock, you don't need to get this version of the CPUs.
