The laptop wants to format the HDD every time I plug it in.

My Mecer XC12 HDD apparently doesn't have a file system driver according to my laptop. The laptop (and other pcs) wants to format the HDD every time I plug it in.
My multi media player at home doesn't recognise the thing either.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Your hard drive may be corrupted thats why it is asking you to format. If you need to recover files then try using this program:

Download zar92setup.exe and then try to recover them.
