News The Lucky Miner USB stick is a $24 Bitcoin lottery ticket, with 210.7 trillion-to-one odds of mining a BTC block in a year

Odds of success so long that, even if they sell millions of these devices, it's near certain none will ever succeed in mining a BTC block. Ok if you want to use the device for something else but, if you hoping for a profit, spend the same money on lottery tickets...

EDIT: just for a bit of context, the odds against winning the jackpot on the UK National Lottery are 1 in 45,057,474, somewhat better than 210.7 trillion to 1!

Fret not, dear hacker, for some semi-literate saps will jump on the devices and dream of untold riches. That can disappear in a Flash.
That's exactly what people selling those hope for. It only consumes 1W of power so why not try luck I spend those $25. And if you are lucky you are rich.

Anyone can buy an ESP32 or ESP8266 for under $4 (realistically probably under $3), on AliExpress and use an Arduino programming tool on any laptop, running Windows, MacOS, or Linux, and create this device - minus the display (which isn't necessary anyway).
The code and instructions to program ESP32 and ESP8266 boards can be found here (Github): https://github.com/matteocrippa/leafminer.
