At the moment, bf4, wow, and farcry 3 are the games I'm spending the most time on. From the trailers for watch dogs, it's one I'll be playing a ton as well, so I'd like to get as close to ultra as possible on it. They list some pretty high requirements for it. I don't need it to be ultra, but I want at least high or very high with no framerate issues.

The debate over 1.5v vs 1.65v RAM is synonymous with debating whether someone should OC or not since Intel "officially" doesn't recommend it. It's arbitrary...

Why was my prior comment deleted?

I see no point in getting 1600MHz RAM for $75 when 2400MHz RAM can be had for about the same price. A difference of 800MHz and a CAS variance of 1 or 2. I'd say good deal.

Yeah it was the comment with links to the Beast and Trident X. I cannot see it.

TBH, I cannot find anything showing 1.65v RAM killing anything but can find loads of topics where bad OC'ing killing systems. The recommendation is that VTT should be within .5v of DRAM voltage.

Also, isn't is true that 2133 RAM that is CAS11 performs the same as 1866 CAS9? SO wouldn't this 2400 CAS11 RAM not even be much different?

I'm pretty sure most people who want real performance RAM (not in an APU situation where MHZ matters) go for stuff like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231538&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= (1866 cas8) or like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231538&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= (1600 cas7). Both of those should perform as well as 2400 CAS11 or cas10 and are still 1.5v.

But looking past latency and speed there are major differences between single-sided vs double-sided RAM. One being able to reach higher frequencies [DS] at default latency and timings). In fact, most of the higher end RAM can be tweaked to run on lower voltage and/or tighter timings.

Obviously more MHz = faster but I'm unsure of the impact CAS latency has. Is a 2400MHz CL11 really faster than a 1866MHz CL8?
Yes it is. Even DDR3-2000 CL7 can barely / can't match DDR3-2400 CL11/CL10 in terms of bandwidth. Also the F3-2400C11D-8GXM should be a double sided kit, so there is no rank interleaving performance penalty (that all the high speed kits using single sided Hynix MFR suffer from)
.

While both of the kits I recommended use SK Hynix MFR IC's the Beast are double-sided = higher bandwidth vs the Trident X.

A good read through.

Interesting indeed and I'm sure it's the move.

After a little looking around the Samsung RAM looks to be gold.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096

They are double-sided HYKO IC's and many can hit 2400MHz with no changes to CAS nor voltage. I think Samsung is the only company to manufacture DRAM and not market to the OC community and leave it up to the end user...

Good luck finding them though.

Got myself a new case today. Picked up a 300r from Microcenter for $59.99.

Same setup as in my sig.
Fan layout:
2x Corsair 140mm generic fans as front intake.
2x Corsair SP120 as top exhaust
Coolit ECO-II 120 (identical to Corsair H60) with Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO fan as rear exhaust
All fans, with the exception of the CPU cooler are running on an NZXT Sentry Mesh fan controller.

WTH! How close to MC are you? If I PayPal you can you get some FM2+ gear?

Looks really good BTW. Love the Antec 750w HCG, so are those sleeved extensions then? And is that the 990FXA-UD3? The heatsink looks different than my old one. Really nice board for that chip though. It almost looks like it has that matte black finish on the PCB that my MSI MPOWER Z77 had. I loved that, almost seemed like a protective skin, but more than likely just for looks. Was awesome though..

I like the 990fxa-ud3 as well. I have the most recent revision (4.0). I will be picking up an fx8320 for it.

And yeah, those are sleeved extensions. The ModRight ones.

I live about 25 minutes from one microcenter and 40 minutes from another. I'm lucky.

On another note, I will be leaving on Saturday for Field Camp. This is the capstone course for my major and my last requirement for graduation. Myself and 40 classmates will be traveling and visiting South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming. This will last 4 weeks. Afterwards I will be flying to Denver to spend 10 days with my girlfriend who has a summer internship there. I will be back home around July 12th. I will have my laptop, but while at camp internet might be scarce and I will not have alot of free time. I will try to get on once a day or once every other day. Just felt like I should post this here. I have also posted it in the Moderator section.
