Very sharp! And I agree with Nick, The Antec HCG series are very good power supplies.

Thanks! Mine is non-modular which means it is Delta build, not Seasonic. Some argue that the Delta units are slightly better. I don't really know or care. Lol.

The Silencer MKII that I have in my Intel rig is a Delta unit and it's a great PSU. It can handle a dual GPU setup with relative ease.

Anyway I finally cleaned up the cables in my AMD rig:

While on the subject of coolers now that I have the Define R4 which is a seriously amazing case, I want to take advantage of the closed liquid loop setup. I'm debating between the NZXT Kraken X60 and Thermaltake Water 3.0 Extreme. I'm also going to get that EVGA power supply, I'm kicking myself for missing that Newegg deal a couple weeks back, but I'm also thinking of going with a Seasonic X650 as well. I want something that's full modular.

Yeah I think it is a Sirtec, you're right. Ah, that's what happens when you're running on four hours of sleep in three days.

It's good nevertheless. :) The MKII 750w I had was awesome besides the fact it was non modular.

I have this Silverstone 450w SFX PSU just sitting here not being used. I had originally planned on building a SFF machine that would utilize the PSU but ended up with a bigger case and just using my Seasonic X650. Not sure if I should hold on to it or what. I got a decent deal on it, and I know as soon as I sell it I will need a PSU so IDK.

Hmmmm, so I upgrade my case to the quiet H440 2 days ago. I moved the 3 included NZXT 120mm fans on the top, and put my 3 af120 in the front, and 1 af140 in the rear of the case. I noticed that my system has been running kinda loud. So I did a bit of looking on google, and people are saying the fan hub that came included with the H440 runs the fans on a higher voltage. So last night, I put my AF120 and AF140 fans into the motherboard fan hubs, but the fans for the NZXT are still going faster then I would like them to be.

Is there a way I can decrease the voltage of the fans? So I can have my computer run quietly?

What motherboard? If you have three or four fan headers you can use splitters to connect the fans to the board and control the voltage in BIOS or Windows. Or you can get a fan controller and hook all the fans directly to it.

Clip a fan wire and add a 1/2W 100 Ohm resistor in series (that value is an educated guess; you would not want much higher than that).

Edit: use this only if Stick's suggestion for mobo control doesn't work (I had an ASRock board which would not control 3-pin fans, despite documentation to the contrary)

it's the MSI z87 G45, with the dragon and red colouring.

I had the same issue with the h440, and the same motherboard. You can put speed reducers on the fans, or get something like the corsair link commander, which is basically a software based fan controller, with extra stuff.

So I got that Q8400 working with all 4 cores. Not sure which CPU I should keep. When I run IBT (bit extreme I know) the CPU gets hotter than I would wanted, past Intel's recommendation. But it will probably never get taxed that hard. The E8500 offers faster single core performance but only 2 cores. The E8500 just barely passes 10 minutes of IBT without being over-temp.

So I have a decision to make because I only need one of them.

Multi cores will help your rig go through some titles easy. Single core performance is not this years news...its last years news. If making a quick decision, its to keep the Q and ditch the E.

I personally own the Q9550 and have had no issues with it running titles, though I run games on 1080p only and if games are a little hard to run, I reduce details.

On a secondary note, IBT will always tax your system to those outrageous temp ranges but you will never see it in a real world experience. Speaking of Quad core, what mobo are you running it off?

Just curious, what kind of interest in Montana do you have? I live in Bozeman, MT. now but I'm from and spent most my life in Great Falls, MT.

I haven't been up to Kalispell in a few years but it is a nice little city.

And to not go to far off topic I did some updating to my rig along with a failed testing of Indigo Xtreme TIM. Pics and details are in my build log (coolimus prime link).

I'd keep the Q8400. Personally, because I am getting into animations and rendering. Compared to the new ones, it's crap, but still WAY better than my E5300

How short is very short? 5-10??
For me
1. California
2.NOWHERE ELSE

It's a Dell motherboard, the machine is a SFF Optiplex 380. I wasn't sure if the titles they (the kids) play used more than one core. So I did a little experimentation, and the Core2Quad is definitely being utilized to it's full ability. Now I just hope this Dell board and PSU can make it until I upgrade my main machine. Which will be around the time DDR4 is being used.
