So I managed to score an Asrock Z97 Extreme 6 thanks to me being a member of Newegg's Expert Reviews program (yeah I know  ), but hey you can't argue with free. I'm going to go to Micro Center and buy an i5-4670K and then I will be moving my FX-8320 to another PC. Should be fun! I'll post pics when the upgrade is complete.

Now my long term plans have changed - sometime within this year I will probably be selling my White Knight rig (I really want to make an mITX rig based around either an EVGA Hadron or Bitfenix Prodigy) and then long term plans for this one will be moving to G.Skill GDDR3-2400, adding a NZXT Kraken X60, and adding a second GTX 760 in the long run.

The game is smooth as butter on this R9 280x which surprises me, because most of my experiences with brand new games on AMD drivers have required lots of tweaking or waiting for updated drivers.

Wouldn't going mini-ITX and running a 2nd 760 be impossible?

Congrats on the new board! I think I might pick up a combo at Micro Center this summer. I will be very close to one when I visit relatives in Minnesota in July.

Yeah the driver issues with the newer games are why I decided to skip on the R9s even though I generally like AMD cards. I definitely need to check out Watch Dogs, and I will also be getting Wolfenstein: The New Order once I get my rig reconfigured.

If I'm going the mITX route I'd be building a new rig from scratch which I haven't done since like 2007.

And I think going that route the new configuration would look something like this:

Being in that program is how I got the Z77A-GD65 Gaming. I'm not sure why, but I have not heard from them in quite a while.
Are you sure you don't need to return the sample now?

Most of the time it says in the e-mails that you don't need to return the sample once your review is posted. I think motherboards would definitely qualify in that area.

Hmm.. . haven't thought that far ahead yet. I usually take depreciation into account but the value of the Radeon 7870 GHz edition has skyrocketed because of its' value for bitcoin mining. They're almost $100 more than what I initially paid for them. I remember I paid like $249 for the first one and then $200 for the second one and now Newegg is selling them for $350 brand new.

On the other hand words can't accurately express how much I hate AMD stock coolers. I think the stock compound must have the chemical equivalent of rubber cement or plaster paris. I just pulled one out of an old machine and the thermal compound stuck to the CPU and when I pulled it out, it pulled out the CPU and bent several pins in the process. Second time this has happened, but the CPU that it happened to is so old that it doesn't really matter. I'll see if I can take it to my local jeweler, but still... :fou:

AMD cards are dirt cheap now. The mining bubble popped several weeks ago. People are having a hard time selling their 7970/280x's for < ~$200. I bought mine for $185.

Anyone in the market for a GTX 750 ti? I wanted to keep mine as a backup but I haven't had a lot of work and am trying to get more pocket cash for an upcoming family vacation. It runs 1400MHz without touching the voltage!

I might be intersted in the 750ti, Im still tossing around the idea of a bitfinex prodigy based micro atx system. Really want to go with a vishera system, hoping a good 990 micro atx board pops up at some point.... or at least an 880

I just looked on Newegg and they're selling my card for less than I was wanting to let it go for. Granted mine is guaranteed to run 1400MHz on the core and comes with the EVGA backplate. An accessory I bought because I was worried about potential shorts from the heatpipes of my Silverstone NT-06 cooler. The pipes are really close to touching the card.

EVGA claims the backplate helps cool the back of the socket, IDK how much truth there is in that. But it looks nice!

Anyway, I was really hoping to get $135 shipped for it. But with it on sale for $120 after rebate right now on Newegg, it might be tough to get my asking price.

One thing I've missed sorely since putting in the 280x is the native 3x monitor support from the 750 ti with no adapters needed. (Provided you have monitors that support DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort). I had a order an active mini displayport to DVI adapter for my 280x which was about $25.

I think you'd have a lot more offers if posted around the Deals section. Given that I know you've used it sparsely(not taking it wonky overclocks) the card can go for a semi used(like-new) unit.

Ofc there is also the prospect of keeping the card as is and not have to shell out on a new card for a build you were forced to do for someone. I say keep it with you until someone asks for a build and ask him to take it off your hands :) maybe?

This is Stick we're talking about. The card will have been overclocked to the gills at least for a while.
Still, it wouldn't have been "rode hard and put away wet." I'm sure it's a good card, otherwise I would not have expressed any interest.

Yeah I overclocked it pretty good, but these are like 5 to 10 minute little spurts of testing and benchmarking. The voltage was untouched (wouldn't do anything anyway, the TPD is pretty much set at 65w), never saw a temp over 60C, never an artifact and no long burn ins. I did fold on it for about week to see what type of points it put up. I had to do it at stock clocks or I would get errors, then come to find out it's just lacking support ATM, so I stopped.

Either way this is an EVGA card, it's about a month and a half old so that means Guest RMA eligibility until 4/17. Not too bad.

I know I'm going to miss it if I get rid of it. I might just keep it. I don't have a 2nd rig to put it in and I use a mini-ITX system so it will just sit until I find a use for it.

Sounds like my GTX650Ti (non-Boost); too little and "cute" to simply unload. Right now it is in an older E6750 rig on which I loaded Linux Mint, but I haven't done much with it. It's too good a card for that, so I'll probably use an old HD4830 in it. That's the weakest card I have right now, so it's amazing how long it is.

My brothers HD5770 is the same size as a GTX750Ti, If not, larger than the latter so its actually to my amazement when I see its more than 3 tiers higher on the GPU hierarchy chart which makes this sort of a perfect candidate for my brothers i5-750 rig. Lower power draw, more horse power and ofc lower TDP...support for future watercooling...or just a uni block from EK will settle it!

I'd like to get a 750TI for my home theater PC but since I don't really do anything major on it (it's mainly used for movie watching and web streaming), it's not really worth the purchase price right now.

Anyway my Asrock Z97 came in today and I got the CPU last night (Intel i5-4670K), I will be building on Monday (long weekend ahead  ) and posting pictures of the build as I go along. I will also be pulling the FX-8320 out of my PC and putting that in my home theater PC which will happen some time next week. Can't wait! :bounce:

Long term I eventually plan to add another GTX 760, a liquid cooler (probably NZXT Kraken X60) and moving to a 2 x 8GB configuration with a faster speed. And I will also be adding two additional 24" 1080P displays in the near future for a three monitor setup - something I've always wanted to have.

Good news! Build log? :)

Maybe wait out a little bit. Fractal announced their take on watercooling and they are partnering with Alphacool watercooling GMBH. This would be epic as you can own an AIO unit with a 360 rad and if you decided to later on you can add more watercooling hardware like rads and blocks - doubt you'd need another rad more than a 360 unless you just want to spend more 😛

Asetek tried to stomp on Swiftech's parade but it seems they have leased their tech to fractal, Coolermaster and some of their units H220/360 are available in Canada and other countries outside of USA.
