Hi people. Just got the Strix GTX 970 and was so psyched. Alas, something is very, very wrong. It's installed with the latest drivers, it works fine - but there is almost no real FPS difference between this so called beast and my old XFX 7870. I'm running Arma 3 on Ultra and Very high with about 12-30. It's SO insane and doesn't make any sense. Please help! Notice the numbers in the top left.

NOTE: It's a general problem, not just with Arma. Dying Light, H1Z1 - everywhere I go I get the same results as my with my old 2 GB GPU. It's SO strange. I even did the real 3DGuru "uninstall" before installing.

FINAL UPDATE: Woah, now it's working like a charm. I used two apps: Process Lasso (to give Arma "high" priority) and another program to something called "CPU parking". Et voila: Ultra with 60+ everything maxed. Like magic. So strange 😀

Solution
CPU definitely limiting the card, that's why you dont see a difference between 7870 and 970. Arma III besides Planetside 2 and some others are insanely CPU heavy.

Edit : well, now i'm confused. I guess it's not a CPU bottleneck. What about some other games?

If it is only in this game, then you can't blame yourself. ARMA 3 is a badly optimized game and does bad with even the best of systems.

But if it is with other games too.. then you may need to update your drivers again. Or it could be a bottleneck as we don't know your processor.

Edit: Oops, did not see those specs.

Seems funny though, that you are getting such low FPS. As I said, if it is only ARMA, then it is the optimization of the game. Or could be something else if it happens with other games.
