The New Haswell CPUs?

Ok, So new Haswell CPUs are coming out in mid 2013. Here's what I want to know, now I'm not an expert but... the IVY Bridge was a 22nm CPU and so is Haswell, But IVY used 1155, so why does it require this new Socket 1150 is it just a scam by Intel?

Also ATM I have a I5-2500 (non K) @ 3.7GHZ will this still be a viable Processor after Haswell? Or would I upgrade to the 3570k? I really don't want to upgrade the MoBo Until at least Broadwell.

No it is not a "scam" you won't be able to use Haswell with socket 1155. The 1366, 1156, 1155 and now 1150 isn't a number Intel pulled out of their butt they got that from the number of pins used in the LGA socket. So with that said the Haswell will have a number of changes that will use less pins and therfore won't work in an 1155 socket.

The major reason for Intel changing socket comes more towards the future with Skylake and beyond, the new socket allows higher RAM SPD's improved chipset controllers and so on and so forth, as for the pin layout that will change as Intel lowers its power profile.

Intel tend to refresh every two generations while AMD tend to have socket stability for 3-4 Generations, it has its positives and negitives.
