Got new 32gb c16 ram and it crashes PC at 3200, currently running at 2666 without an issue. Do I need to manually set setting instead of xmp or should I return and get a replacement or buy different brand?
MB is:
MSI MPG X570S EDGE MAX WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard
CPU:
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
Link for current ram: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08662S4NK
What I am thinking to replace it for $45 more https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07Y4ZZ7LQ/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_8F02HKTMH2QZ1349GV3W_0?th=1
Current system: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/XxmgKp

Have RAM in right slots, usually A2 and B2 (check MB manual) ? and if there's one, update BIOS version.

Set latencies to 16-20-20-40 instead.
You have it on 16-19-19-38 currently.

What DDR voltage did you set? Should set it to 1.35V.

If still getting issues, then reduce frequency to 3000mhz (or 2933mhz).
voltage is on 1.37 V
No issues under load currently but the prime95 test comes back saying "Fatel Error rounding 0.5 expected 0.4"

I just realised you advised to set to 16-20-20-40, is there a reason for this?
when I bought the ram kit it was advised that 16-18-18-38 was tested on merchant website and ryzan calculator advised I can run at originally 14-19-19-38 which was unstable hence I put it at 16.
XMP settings baked into ram module says 3200mhz 16-20-20-40.
(CPU-Z SPD screenshot)

Generally is't not recommended to use higher voltage than 1.35V on DDR4.
May impact lifespan of cpu memory controller.

Ok I will do that and do you reckon I was cheated by the merchant then or is it supposed to be like that at 16-20-20-40 ? even though advertised as 16-18-18-36 at 3200

XMP profile says 3200mhz 16-20-20-40. That's what it's supposed to use.

Of course you can overclock and try different timings. They are not guarantied to work though.
In advertisements they can write whatever they want. Probably just copy/paste specs from some other model modules.

Edit: I think 16-18-18-36 is meant for 3000mhz ram. Amazon just copied the same values to 3200mhz ram.

ok thank you for the reply, I've bought a corsair kit to test against as well otherwise if both same at 16-20-20-40 il just keep one of them.

Hopefully the corsair can pass prime95 as the other memory even at default wont pass prime95.
