Not too many in this group it seems. The biggest change on D2 since 1.10
came out, and I can see only one thread with just 15 postings 12 hours
after the update. Everyone busy with preparations for christmas or what?

Since I play in public games on HCL, the only news I'm waiting for is
banning all users that use hack tppk. New runewords is a minor event.

Part of it may be that the change is ladder only, which means the
folks who don't play ladder here don't have much reason to care.

well, to break the silence, the new runewords dont give much to me.
i'm currently a proud owner of 2*um, both from hellforge. last season a mal
dropped for me in act5, that's all.
yesterday evening i got shortly through the list of new runewords and all i
read was like JAH, BER,CHAM,LO, even multiple of them in one word.
so i guess this wasn't meant for me 😉

but i already noticed there are some reachable runewords for normal players
and i will check them out this weekend.

I'm sorry i only have done 2 of the new runwords.
But Returh of the King Extended version was released yesterday so i had
to take a 4 hour break to watch it.
Now i'm back on track and looking for runes, doing nm countess runs like
a mad.
When i get i stock of amn's, ko's and lem's i'm ready to go hunt some
socketed items.
But but but but, are you online hunting?

Lol I got my collectors edition yesterday too. That's why it was already
after midnight when I read about the new runeword stuff :).

Hmm I have some work to do over the weekend. I might ditch in to help
out with some runes though.

I don't play anymore, but I just had a look and I must say it looks
pretty good. Some affordable ones, stuff up to the amn-ko region is
rather common and those runes finally give some nice abilities. Edge
looks sweet, too bad it doesn't have ED. ;-) And I also saw some 4 rune
sword/shielde runeword with +2skills. What's that all about? Does it
actually work both in swords and in shields? A +2 skills shield would be
pretty sweet and the runes weren't that rare. Oh, and there's Insight, a
decent polearm for an act2 merc when you're playing a caster.

orbs :)

They don't work in SP, and lately that's the only D2 I'm playing. I take
a little offense that they don't bother releasing a minor patch for SP
(with a fix for the FE bug, too), so my excitement is a bit limited
right now. Maybe I should look after my realm characters, but, I don't
know. Got KOTOR today, so might play that for a few days. Other than
that, I'm looking forward to the European release of WoW. I definitely
spend more time with agd2 every day than with D2 itself. 😉

My life has kind of "changed" when I stopped smoking a few weeks
earlier. Some reflexes need to go away, namely:

_lighting up a cigarette on entering agdmule for the first time
_lighting up a cigarette before to talking to warriv.
_lighting up a cigarette after picking up the horadric staff
_lighting up a cigarette on smashing the orb
_lighting up a cigarette on entering the red portal
_lighting up a cigarette on completing the Ancients quest.

It's still very tempting, but sadly the game had to go away for a while.

Bah.

I think most of my "uniques" mules have expired now. But I still have a
number of high level runes (at least pul um mal ist I think) on
*babebridou/BabyZod. I might try a couple of runewords some day soon :)

You know, I always loved this group. It's been my usenet home for close
to four years, and it's a bit depressing to see it slow down. That's one
of my main reaons why I always hoped for Diablo 3, as it would preserve
this unique community. WoW may achieve that, but regulars like Brian
Brunner are somewhat resistent! 😛 Plus, Blizzard's idiotic geographical
separation really does hurt deeper community development. :/ I just
don't understand what they're thinking. Granted, I've been working in
the online communities field longer than the decision makers at
Blizzard, but it still puzzles me how they can miss the obvious!

once joked that only 250 copies came to Australia... I'm starting to believe
them.

Take a second look. There are some runewords with low runes that are
worth trying. Like Edge (Tir Tal Amn) for example.

OMG, I just had a look and I agree, some very affordable words... Spirit
(Shield) looks awesome.

I am sorry to have missed the formative years of this game and community.
As a latecomer on the eve of obsolescence, I know that I will have much fun
and many hours of frittered-away time to show for the experience.

One of these days, I'll look for a complete archive of this group's history,
so that I may browse the treasury of wisdom it contains.

There's been quite a bit of interest in them by the players in
alt.games.diablo (we had a good laugh at the high end ones, and a lot of the
low requirements words look way overpowered in typical blizzard fashion, but I
think we're happy enough to have a few toys to play with), but that's because
more of us are still playing D2 than those who mostly post in
alt.games.diablo2, ironically enough (mostly USWest SC ladder over in
alt.games.diablo, still).

Ladder? What is this ladder you speak of? Is it similar to the one at the top
of the forgotten tower? And where exactly is this USWest I keep hearing about?
