The Nikon 70-210mm zoom f4-5.6 will not zoom on my Nikon D300 ,Why?

Just got the Nikon 70-210mm zoom lens f/4-5.6 but it wont zoom on my Nikon D300. Why? Do I need to release something?

Try the Nikon forums and read the manual.

The 70 - 210 AF D lens is auto focus; not the 70 - 210 f 4.5/5.6 which is manual focus (about $120).
