I am using win8.
Okay can you tell me if this is the right process to changing my gpu (i have intergrated at the moment)
Run in safe mode -> Go to device manager -> disable onboard graphics -> restart computer -> put in new graphics card -> boot pc up -> install drivers?

Solution
From a powered down and unplugged state. Install PCI-e GPU and connect power to card ect. Plug monitor into PCI-e card. Boot machine and go into bios. Depending on the motherboard this may not apply as most will automatically disable the onboard and use the PCI-e GPU. Find relevant menu to select the PCI-e as primary display adapter. Save and exit then boot into windows and install drivers for your card.
