[SOLVED] The remote buttons are doing the wrong things!

About two years ago, I bought a Fire TV Stick for my Haier LE32B50b. It worked perfectly but since I did not have the original remote, I had to get up every time I wanted to change the volume (no remote on the phone worked). So, I bought this HTR-D18A remote from eBay so I could control the television's volume. When it arrived, all the buttons were doing the wrong things except the power button and some things could not even be found on the remote such as volume up. I know this is not the remote's problem since as I said, I tried many other remotes on the phone. I am sure it is the TV's problem. Is this problem familiar to any of you guys? Do you know how I can fix this?

Are you setting up the correct remote codes?

If you have done the above with multiple remotes then the TV may need some reset (aka factory reset).

A reset, if available, is likely to be explained in the TV's User Guide/Manual.

If a reset does not work then the TV is likely broken in some manner.

But one other thought: See if you can identify the remote port on the front of the TV. The port may simply be dirty, dusty, or smudged over. Especially if there are little hands around.....

What I bought is not a universal remote and cannot set codes on it. I have reset the TV but it did not solve the problem. Also, I could not find the port on the TV.

Your ebay source may have something mixed up....
