Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive.

Basically, I/O error could be caused by two things:
- Connection related issue. You need to attach the drive with different cables(both SATA and power one) to a different port. It would be nice if you can connect it to another system.
- Faulty drive. If the things I've mentioned above do not sort the issue out, you will need to contact the place you got the drive from or WD's Support and RMA the drive.
