I currently have an AV500 TP Link Powerline connected into my desktop and my router but for some odd reason, the connection that I'm connecting to from the powerline is coming from someone elses internet in the neighbourhood. I was wondering if anyone has any idea on what is going on and the possible solutions to this problem. I've hit my ip address homepage with my wireless connection and there doesn't seem to be any problem with my router. It's just weird to me since I'm directly plugged in that it wouldn't connect to my own router.

Solution
What is going on ... I expect, as you have surmised, your powerline adapter has connected to your neighbors network.

Why did this happen ... If you follow the directions from TP Link, they have you plug the remote adapter in first. Once it is plugged in it starts looking for a network. All TP Link adapters are sent with a default network name of "HomePlugAV". It found your neighbors network and your neighbor didn't set the security correctly, so it allowed your adapter to connect.

Solution ... from a computer that is directly connected to your router (wired is better, but wireless should work) open the management utility. Change your network name. The management utility will show a "local" adapter (the one connected to your router), but not a remote (unless something really wacky is going on). Click add and enter a name and password for your remote adapter (password should be printed on the back of the adapter). While this should work, you may have to reset the remote adapter to get it to connect. Once your all done set the security (chapter 5 in my user manual). Now your computer should be on your network.
