Recently, my crossfire oc'd msi twnfrzr 7970's have finally given up (blue bar issue which can apparently be solved through oven-ing the cards) (1 died a few months back, the other last week), and I have begun looking for replacements for the duo.

Currently running 3 screens (5760x0180) and often play games such as battlefield 1, project cars (2 as well when its released), gta 5, cod4 mw remastered, ashes of the singularity, rust and a few low demanding games like csgo, league, etc...

As for performance wile running these, im currently having to turn down settings to medium-high with no msaa to achieve the sweet 60fps and above. ideally I would like to be able to set most settings to 'ultra' or equivalent, but will likely leave msaa off as I do generally notice big performance drops around it.

I'm not worried about power consumption, or heat, and although ive had my recently dying cards heavily overclocked for good performance, im not too concerned with overclocking provided the cards are performing well.

Main replacement im looking at now:
1 x GTX1080Ti

or should I wait and see what Vega is going to bring.

honestly, i would prefer to get something soon, as i dont have a replacement card and any gaming is dependent on the oven method to get the current dead cards to come back to life. Also im looking to upgrade sometime this year anyhow so, if theres enough positive news for vega in regard to 4k readyness (5760x1080 will take 75% of the power of 4k) ill consider holding back for vega's release.

SLI / CF not considering after looking at benchmarks and knowedge that many games will not scale well or incur microstuttering
2x RX580 in Crossfire
2x GTX 1070 in SLI

If anyone is currently running any of these config's with 3 screen setups, or similar demand (4k or close) please lemme know how theyre going for you. if you have other suggestions on card setups please lemme know.

my max budget will be around the $700 mark (USD) which is approx $950 AUD currently (i reside in aus)

It all depends on the kind of settings you're running, but forget about options 2 and 3, they're not worth it. This should be down to the GTX 1080 ti and the GTX 1080 for you. The 1080 ti will carry you a little further into the future and allow you to play on ultra settings with some AA in the AAA games now, but obviously at a higher initial cost. The 1080 will do high to ultra at that res no problem with no AA. I mean I have an OC'ed 980 ti (roughly a GTX 1070) and play at 4k medium/high settings with no AA and it does alright. As far as League and CSGO go, all I can say is that I hope you're not playing those with 3 screens lmao, not sure how that would work.

seen a lot regarding the dual gpu setups and yeah i think im gonna steer clear this time around of cf / sli (only did it 6 years ago because there werent single cards that would cope), i guess the main question i have then is, 1080ti or wait for vega (apparently 2 months). have you guys heard of any great positive rumors, or is it still pretty 'in the dark'.

btw thanks for the crazy fast replies :)

If the rumors are true regarding details in the recent linux driver package, then the first vega card will be competing with the GTX 1070/1080 and splitting them. But they're just rumors, no one really knows.
