OS: NT 4.0 Server with service pack 6a
Application : IIS 4.0
-----------------------------------------------
I encountered the above error message when I tried to access a web folder in
wwwroot directory. I don't face any problem when I access the same folder in
another identical IIS server. It seems very weird to me, and I can't even
rename or delete the folder, only a single gif (5k) format file inside the
particular folder. Any one can help ?

Calvin:

Have you tried stopping the IIS service prior to attempting to delete
the folder? Semaphores are used to assist with resource contention in
multi-threaded applications. You should probably be able to delete this
folder if the service is stopped.

Matt,
I still failed to deleted the folder after I have stopped the IIS service.
The error message prompted when I tried to delete "Cannot remove folder xxx.
The path is too deep". The particular folder do not contains any subfolder !

The problem has been resolved after I run the "chkdsk" command to fix the
error on the affected disk partition.
