The shift from an older(VERY OLD) mouse to a newer one

So I have been playing with a microsoft intelli 1.1 mouse almost my entire "career". I have some issues with scrollbug etc. + the software, or rather lacking software. In these old mices, you have to use windows testmode to change the hz (500 in my case), which means I can't play on certain clients (ESEA for CS:go etc).

So the answer to all this would ofc be to buy a new mouse where I can set my hz and dpi without the windows testmode. But I have tried that, and i can't simply find a mouse with the same feeling as my old msi 1.1. Latest I tried out the steelseries sensei which was alot like my MSI 1.1 both in shape and weight. Even with the exact same settings (400 dpi, 500hz), the feeling with the mouse was not anywhere near enough for me to keep it (played with it for a couple of weeks).

I have heard something about the software in the old mices like MSI 1.1 is a bit different from the newer ones, which might be the reason why it feels so odd with a new mouse.

But does anyone have any idea how to find a newer mouse which feels like my old one, or maybe a solution for the windows testmode issue 😀

Easiest solution is to just tough it out till you get used to the new one.

You could try some more ergonomic type mouses like a Logitech Performance MX. The fancy gamer mice look cool but those sharp edges will hurt your hand.

400DPI is pretty low, you must be making some pretty sweeping movements to even get across the screen. Pretty sure I use like 1800 I think for most games.

Trying to find a mouse like an existing one is possibly one of the hardest thing to do.
No matter how far and wide your search none of them will feel the same.
I recommend spending an extended period of time getting used to a new mouse. It is hard at first, but (in my experiences) one day it just starts to feel right.

I also have to say 400 DPI is super low, I game on 2200.

Thanks for the answers guys. I know 400 DPI is pretty low, but playing, and looking, in to the competitive CS:GO scene, where such af thing as aim is essential; 400-800 DPI is actual quite common (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UaM765-S515ibLyPaBtMnBz7xiao0HL5f-F1zk_CSF4/edit#gid=1762004852 - Top players settings in CS:GO).

And alot of mices, such as steelseries, allow via their software to change both DPI and hz. But still, with the same settings, the feeling is alot different 🙁

I know its a long shot to find a new mouse with the exact same feeling, thats also why I was hoping someone had an idea for how to change hz without using windows testmode :)

Hmm, that eDPI may be something to consider.

I think that list is kind of a bunch of hogwash though, but it's interesting.

You could try some of the mice on that list though, they'll probably allow you customize your settings like those CSGO players do.

Your hardware doesn't matter anywhere near as much as your actual skill though.

See heres the problem I have with that.
People look at a professional player and use their DPI as reference. In reality that means nothing for an average user. They devote their lives (currently) to playing GO for a living, they dont do anything else. They have become acclimated to using what they do, for a specific reason.
A normal user will never reach that level of acclimation, so low DPI is nonsense, as is comparing to pro players. Its not the DPI that makes them great.

Again, thx for answering :)
I think you might interpret this wrong. Im not looking to change my settings in the same way the "pro's" have it. I'm just using them as a reference for why I am using so low DPI :) I have played with this exact same settings for ~10yrs, and I already have been playing semi-high competive CS:GO, and im not seeking on improving my "skill" by changing settings. I just dont wanna drop skillwise changing to a new mouse, which have been the result those times I tried.

Thats why i'm seeking for a solution either to chance hz without windows testmode (so I can use the same mouse) or find an almost identical, but newer, mouse for the MSI 1.1. I know it's proberly a long shot, but you dont get any wiser without trying :)
