The strangest thing happened with my cpu - cores locked down?

I have Coretemp installed to see my temperatures on my cpu, it usually displays 4 digits of each core displaying their temps, recently I have noticed for no reason my games are performing badly, so I open up coretemp again (to test out my new fans) and now there are only 2 digits displaying with temperatures and my games have suddenly had a massive decline in fps because of it. Also, if I try and set affinity on a process in task manager it also displays 2 cores not 4, it always was 4 now it's 2. I have an FX-4100 OC @4.4GHz and I don't understand why it is suddenly 'locked' itself down to two cores. Please help me.

I looked in bios and selected something that said "Activate 3rd and 4th core?" I pressed yes but on coretemp it still says 2 cores, 2 threads.
