Hey peeps. First time post. I purchased all of these parts because it was getting good feedback.

I need some step by step instructions on how to overclock the $500 PC build that was set up at the following:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-graphic-game,1907.html

I am still waiting for a few bits but how do I overclock everything?

Is there a walk through where I can use the same settings in the review? It does say it changed x to y etc but I need to know where do I go etc to make these changes? I am new to overclocking and need to make sure I am changing the correct values.

Do I need any extra software or is everything I need to change in the bios?

Thanks! 😍

It is an intel. Thanks for the link.

All the parts came and I put it together last night.

Since you have the board, can you tell me what I need to change?

I am getting a little lost in the woods of info.

I just need to know change XXX to YYY when in the bios.

Thanks!

every system OC differentlt.just dont expect someone does it on XXX and you can do it on XXX as well.that is the rule of OC. you need to up each setting one by one then boost voltage to go further.

Fail.

PC wont power up.

I changed the multi to 8/400 giving me a core of 3.2

I changed the voltage to 1.45

One thing I didn't understand. It said to change the ddr cas 5-44-10. how do i go about doing that?

I reset the bios but am wary about doing it again. What would make the PC auto shut down? At normal temp my CPU is 30 degrees. The cooler rocks balls. I think I am missing one or 2 obvious changes that allows the whole thing to work. Is there anything obvious I need to change in order for the PC tp work with the new CPU core change?

change the timing of the ram to 5-5-5-18 for now and leave the voltage on 2V. since im not there to test it out. can you list the vcore displayed in CPU-Z in windows for both IDLE + FULL LOAD.

Okay I will try it. Will it be obvious in the bios where I change the ram timing to 5-5-5-18

I could not see where I could change values. I am in work now.

Once I save settings and exit bios it shuts down immediatley.

Then starts back up, waits for a few seconds, then shuts down again. It does this three times before starting again with the fail safe defaults.

I think it must me a gigabyte built in stability routine.

(Shakes my fist to the TH $500 over clocked PC article)

LIES! !!!! LIIIIEEESSS!!!!

haha

you really need to fine tune the setting.spend your whole weekend is a good idea. i OC a gigabyte 650i before. even the OC is prime stable for 24hrs. but the bios doesnt like it when boot up from cold. but if i do restart in windows the OC will stay. but when its been shut down completely, once i turn it on again after the "twice reboot" it will reset the OC to stock. then by then i press reset on the case it will restart with my OC. its ok with a warm reboot not cold.:)

I spent around 2 hours edging everything forward, trying different multiplers etc etc. I did manage a boot at 2.5 however when it got into Windows land it froze.

I'll try the warm reboot. Thanks for all of your helpage.
