So now we all know Windows 11 needs a TPM module which some of us don't have, I can see its not as simple as getting the first one you see.

I have an older 970A - UD3P which is running fine, and i'm not going to change it until it dies, but I can see the TPM header, but question is I cannot find any information on what TPM module I need.

I assume it's the older V1 TPM module , its a 20 pin header, so I gotta get one that fits that, as some TPM modules have half that.

I've contacted Gigabyte to see what they say, but if anyone has any ideas here i'd appreciate it, as I can start to look for the module online to buy one.

Thanks.

It isn't on that list but someone has got it installed on their FX 8350 system

Actually it might not matter, as Windows 11 requires TPM V2 and I don't even know if the board could support that anyway. I'll see what manifests over the coming months, it all seems a little unclear at the moment in terms of compatibility.

That doesn't mean anything. The Developers Beta of OS X Leopard installed on G3 Macs, but the final release required a fast G4. It also eliminated some video cards that were supported by the Developers Beta. I doubt the final release will support anything as old as Bulldozer.

Oh well, i'll stick with what I have until I need to move from W10. 👍

hi, please read if your CPU is compatible aswell in minimum requirements
FX serie CPUs arent compatible with windows11
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...supported/windows-11-supported-amd-processors
for amd its ryzen 2nd gen as minimum

once you get compatible CPU, then u won't need external TPM module, as they have it built in CPU (both intel and AMD)
All I can say is they better make the FX series compatible, or I'm giving up on Windows and going to Unix. Why is it, there is no white paper on the security module?
