If you have the problem that you don't get enough FPS in planetside 2, than look no further than this tutorial made from about 1 year of research. First, you need to figure out is you are limited by your CPU or your GPU (Graphics card). The first thing that you need to do is check your specs. Sometimes it is obvious if you have a GTX TITAN 6GB and a Intel pentium duo-core. IF they seem balanced enough, open up planetside 2 and turn all of the settings up to ultra. Look at your FPS on ultra, and then turn it to low settings. If you have roughly the same FPS on both, then it means that your CPU is limited. If you get drastically increasing FPS the lower in the settings you go, then you are GPU limited. Next, you should do some tweaking of your settings to get more performance out of either your limited GPU or CPU.

LIMITED CPU:
Turn off shadows.

LIMITED GPU:
Make the render distance shorter.
lower the game quality to your needs. The more you lower, the better FPS you will get.

Finally, you make some out of game changes.
