Hi,

I have windows 11 22h2 I have an issue when I open up task scheduler and I go to the windows folder and I go to the Microsoft\Windows\UpdateOrchestrator folder and I right click on the reboot folder so that windows update will not launch at windows startup. And I try and click disabled it gives me the error. (The user account you are operating under does not have permissions to disable this task) How can I bypass this basiclly for everything in the task scheduler. So I can disable what I want . I have tried all kinds of permissions changes going to administrator accounts which is what I'm on. Local account Administrator. Please help

I know you are going to say "Because it's mine and I want to" when I ask WHY in the world you want to disable Windows update, and I'll probably regret it, but I'm going to ask anyhow because maybe I'll be wrong this time. Why, do you want to disable Windows update?

And why isn't simply clicking on "Pause Windows update for 7 days" not good enough if you have some fear that it might create problems at an inopportune time? Especially since you can just continuously extend it another 7 days, and another 7 days, despite the fact that from a security and quality of life standpoint it's a really bad idea that makes your system vulnerable which then makes other systems you connect to potentially vulnerable.

I don't want to disable it entierly I just want to prevent it from starting on the bootup.
