Question The usual black screen and blue horizontal lines of death.

I need help
I've got a pretty ancient build
Nvidia GeForce gt 640
I5 2500
12gb ram (8+4)
Mobo GA-H61M-DS2 (rev. 2.2)
Psu 600w

The issues are the usual screen blackout during (clean installation) and blue horizontal lines.

Have you checked gpu/monitor connections & tried another video cable?
Can you get a spare monitor to try?

I've tried all of that and I tried reinstalling the GPU/resetting bios
And now it's not detected in device manager...

I tried safe mode, the lines are still there but it does show up in device manager...

I looked up the mobo specs. Can you enable the onboard gpu in the bios, and remove the gt640 to see if the problem persists. That will isolate the gpu as the problem component.

Yea it's the GPU...
The integrated graphics work just fine...

Being an old system, if you can get by with the in-built gpu then maybe its the best way till you can upgrade. Cheers.
