hi

i wanted to play fortnite with my friends but i needed a microphone. Since I use a gaming rig, i need a splitter to split my headphone cable into the speaker and mic jack. Sounds simple, but in reality splitters are impossible to come by , atleast where i live.

Now i also use the Razer Blackwidow Chroma V2 keyboard, which has an audio jack which is directly connected to the mic jack on my motherboard. Now, i used my beats by dre earpods as an alternative for a mic(which i connected to the audio jack on the razer blackwidow chroma v2). After configuring everything , i got everything to work but this is where the problem begins.....

the volume was too low. I used the realtek hd audio manager to make it such that i can hear my own recording through my headphones which i am using for hearing the audio. But i couldn't hear my voice, all i could here were the noises of the earpods striking each other or being rubbed against my fingers, or my breath hitting them.
Now i made sure the following was done-
1.Increase the volume of the microphone in the microphone settings and maximize the boost.
2.Keep my headphones on full volume. I knew nothing was wrong with my headphones since i tested that by playing a youtube video.
3.I did the same thing as the first point but for the realtek hd audio manager.
4.Check is the earpods were faulty. No, they weren't as they worked flawlessly on my phone.

yet after all this, i couldn't hear my own voice through the the beats earpods. The only things i could hear again were when i fondled with them.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me here. If you cannot solve the issue atleast try to pinpoint it so that i may refer for help elsewhere. Could this be a hardware problem ? or is this just a consequence of my poor configuration of audio devices to my pc or am i simply missing something ?

Thanks
(i am using windows 10 pro 64 bit btw, all drivers are up to date i think and the front end audio jacks on my pc case are broken so no trying there)

Solution
did you try updating the drivers for the keyboard? Try putting the jack into the integrated sound card on the motherboard and see what that does.
