I can't seem to map a network drive with Windows 10 and my Thecus NAS drive. Worked with win 8.1 but once I upgraded it can't find it. It sees it when I ping it at its network address

Solution

are you trying to map by host name or IP adders?

try it by IP address for example \\192.168.10.10\share name\

do you get replies from the right IP address when you ping by host name?

I get replies if I ping the ip address, not if I ping the host name. I cannot map the drive with either ip address or host name. I can map the drive on my windows 8.1 pc which is on the same network. It's got to be something wrong with the way I've set up windows 10 networking or security but haven't a clue on what I'm doing wrong. Thank you for your help.

On the windows 10 computer, click on network (bottom right) -> Network Settings -> Homegroup -> Change Network location -> Yes
hopefully this will take care of the problem.
