I am at the end of the tether, I've been trying to fix this for months now and that isn't even a joke.

Here is the problem, in detail.

My internet stopped working on my desktop one day and since then, bar once or twice isn't hasn't worked since. It's like the internet is working and the PC can see it, but it can't at the same time, I've tried everything, I've reset, renew and done all the commands possible and it hasn't worked yet. Ive typed in pretty much all that ive found on the internet and it hasnt worked. I've looked through hundreds of threads on this site and many others for a solution, but nothing has done it.

When I get a triangle/star to say internet isn't working, I open the network settings, and it says no internet acess, but if I open command prompt, look at my ip config, everything is fine; now. If I ping my router i get four packets back, if I ping Google or anything I always get all packets back, and all of a sudden the triangle will disappear and say connected when I ping Google or my router, but in reality although it says it works, It doesn't. Not one bit. Can't remember the exact error but it has also said something along the lines of, Microsoft (might be windows) is connected, but not online, or something like that.

The only thing I did after reading that worked (for half an hour) was going on the windows firewall and creating a new rule to allow access through port 80 on out bound I believe, so its like something is blocking it, I've deleted my anitvirus in hope of it fixing it but it hasn't worked. I have no other antivirus on the PC either.

No matter what YouTube video I try, solution that has worked for everybody else is not working, I've basically given up as I wasted more than a few days of my life trying to sort this problem out. I really hope someone can help as at the moment but PC is a nice looking paper weight.

I may also add, the internet works for every single other wireless device in the house, and to make matters worse my laptop has now started to do the same thing. I am running win 10 on the laptop and I can't actually update to win 10 on the desktop as of the internet problem, but when I tried before a few times it never completed always says failed.

I really hope someone can help.

Oliver.

You can be connected to your local area network (LAN) and still not have internet access. This would give you the error "limited connectivity" with the yellow triangle in your system tray.

In this instance your connection to the internet has been severed, and since it is intermittently happening to multiple devices, is probably caused by ISP problems in your area, a bad modem, or a bad router.

Hello, its only happening to my desktop and laptop ,the other laptop in the house is fine as well as all the other devices. I still think it's like something is blocking it, as when I created a new rule in windows firewall and allowed everything through port 80, it worked. For about half and hour that is .

I'm seriously stumped tho, I'm gunna try a wired connection to see if that helps at all.

Your issue is pretty much exactly what a few of my systems were doing, my phone and one computer had no internet access over wireless, I even got a new better wireless network card for the computer and flashed the router with an opensource firmware. They did the exact same thing. Reset network connections, nothing helped.

I had to do a clean Windows setup with a clean driver setup for the network card to fix the issue on my computer. You may need to look into doing that on yours, backup your files and settings, do a clean setup of Windows.

Hello, to be fair my hd is as old as the hills and I really do need a bigger and better one. So do you suggest in me getting a new one and using that as my main hd with a clean Windows on it and just use my current one as a secondary hd once everything is installed on the new clean one?

If so what hdd your recommend? I think I'll go for a 2tb of some sort as my current one is only 500g and it's constantly full

Yes, try that, and also check for a firmware update on the router.
