Question Thermal/Afterburner Volt issue?

So randomly about 2-3 months ago my asus gl503vmf began to thermal throttle. I tried repasting and it did nothing. I tried undervolting the cpu and it did nothing. I went to go undervolt the gpu and it won't even let allow me to in afterburner...the voltage knob will only go right to increase and refuses to drag left and decrease.

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Putting the laptop on a cooling pad seems to combat the throttling but I still think it's unacceptable that this is occurring.

Double check your heatsink contact, the thermal paste application/spread, and the thermal pads (they may have been moved or degraded). You might also want to look for anything unusual with the heatpipes; damages can impact how they move heat away from the chips.

Worst case is you need to replace a fan and/or heatsink, but both rarely suddenly fail (especially the heatsinks).
