thermal compound {pls help}

is it ok 2 apply new compound on top of old (stock p4 compound basically that kin of sticker} compound , or do i have 2 clean b4 doing it ? if so how do i remove old compound

NO......Remove the old thermal interface material. I use Rubbing alcohol,

and some good old elbow-grease(for manufacturers TIM). Make sure the

old crap is 100% gone. Then apply some Arctic Silver 5 or 3. Very thin layer

is all that is needed, and try and apply it evenly. Credit card works good for

applying thermal paste. GL :)

You have to completely remove the older thermal paste before applying new one. If you can clean without removing the cpu from the socket then it's better that way for removing and installing cpu might damage the chip itself or the socket.

Apply a thin uniform layer of the thermal paste and you should be good to go.
