Thermal grease...no difference

I recently upgraded my amd to an 2400xp and i am using the amd heat sink and fan setup that came with it. I put it in with the thermal pad and it was running around 35C without graphics intense games. Then I got the idea to buy some thermal grease and I went exactly by the directions on applying it. Thin coat on heatsink and wipe off with a lint free paper towel until barely any was on it then i spread a light coat over the cpu with a razor making sure it stayed on the core. I installed it 2 days ago and the only difference i saw in temp was that it went up. Did I do anything wrong? I am running two fans pushing 52 cfm in the back and one in the front of the case for cooling. I have no mounts for the side of the case and I do not want to over do the fans. Any suggestions?

you took the pad off the heatsink right?

and is the heatsink mounted with even pressure?

this signature area is too dern short, no space to put your system specs

yep i scraped the pad off with a razor blade and used rubbing alcohol and a lint free paper towel to wipe off the rest that was still on the heat sink and cpu core. I'm trying to achieve at least 90-95F tops for the cpu but its running at about 10 more degrees above that.

yeh i read all about this before i performed it...so i was very careful as to not scratch it. I looked up the Aero 7+ and it says its only 21 cfm. Does that matter if its rated so low in cfm? I always thought the more cfm the better...but i could be wrong.

ok...thanks for the info! I just purchased 2 case fans that blow 52 cfm and they are kinda loud...and don't really do a whole lot more than my old case fan was doing.
