This a great place for info, bought a second hand rx 570 nitro. I removed cooler to clean corrosion, reapplied small amount thermal paste gpu and to all non sticking sides of thermal pads. Is this dangerous for the card , should i buy new thermal pads? or will it do for a while?
thanks

dangerous? probably not as long as your paste in non conductive, will just be messy if the card is taken apart again. Could have just reused the same thermal pads without adding paste assuming they were in good enough condition. Thermal pads really arent all that expensive, I would reuse pads or buy new ones.

And by corrosion you just mean dust right, I would have some concerns if there was corrosion on a gpu...

yes corrosion, i took a risk and got A $100 win one off auction site. What i found i should have asked for return. There was a bit moisture come off fan blade when first test it. looked further on in the heat sink, oxide been sitting in damp area. looks like the guys grows and sells mushrooms and fugus on the trade site. Was said to be new done few months mining. Anyway pulled it down, board looked really clean, circuits too, balling ram etc looked clean nor any staining etc All except one spot end of card one circuit area had small bit dirt corrosion between its contacts, gave it a good clean put it together with from c "A1 platnium thermal grease for overclocking " has 25% silver. tried it seems to go good, but have had some driver issue initially with wattman and sapphire trixx software and one issue said it failed fan test on trixx . Looks like fans work good as should except it takes 10% power before they spin. Nice bearing spin etc. i also had error on my drive that was fixed, never had that before. passes all other tests tried. seems to be-going good now and hoping haven't done or will do damage to my pc.
Now im wondering if i should pull the fans down check inside them? it maybe where this small bit moisture come from.
got to use trixx to keep fans going at idle as the new fanless amd option never stays off after restart. ive pushed it and not gone over 70c yet.
Anyway that my story, thanks for your help.

Why don't you like fanless mode?
im use to nvidia and my cards idle general pc use in 30s c. amd fanless is 38 to almost 50. always thought cooler the better. but i guess on fanless there may be less heating up and cooling down might be bit more stable temp which maybe better for the card . still not too sure at this point. But i have noticed without fans it reflects more heat to parts of the motherboard.
Anyway my card pass the latest fan test so could have been just driver issue false alarm. all going good for now.
This card has impressive colour and hd compared to all my other earlier cards, its great.
