Thermal paste on Corei7

What is the best method for applying thermal paste to the Corei7 heatsink?
I can't find a previous topic about it or a general info here.

Apply it to the CPU like you would any other CPU. Consult the website of your brand of thermal paste if you need any specifcs. Just don't use too much...

AS recommends the 'dab-n-slap' method for MX-2. Put between a grain of rice and pea-sized dollop in the middle of the processor, then just install your heatsink and let its natural pressure spread it out.
