[SOLVED] thermal paste on cpu socket?

i somehow managed to get thermal paste in my socket and i have been trying to clean up it but now im worried i just ruined my motherboard. is there any way to save it?

Unplugged you can use a pin and try to scoop the residue out of the holes. Thermal paste is non conductive so it may block electricity to your cpu if left in place

thanks for the reply! i have been trying to remove the residue with soft, small paintbrushes and it worked some, but i feel like there is still too much. i will look for the smallest pin i have and try that! thanks again!

You know just a thought you may want to use a vacuum hose near the pin as you work at it so it sucks up and doesn't go in to the base.
