Ok, so im installing my cooler master TX3 last night and start applying the thermal paste. As I raised the tube I didnt notice that a string of paste was still attached and it got on my mobo. It is not in the pins or anything. I cleaned off the majority with a q-tip and isopropyl but there is some I cannot get. Its a line about an inch long and as thick as a string that is in a spot that I cannot get to. My computer has been booting up fine and I gamed on it for a few hours this morning without issue. Im mainly wondering if this is something to worry about?

It's the cooler master brand thermal grease. Came with the TX3. I kind of though if something was going to happen it would have happened when I booted up the PC but I wasnt sure. So far everything is as normal.

I cant take a picture right now but I can explain where it is. It is near the bottom corner of the RAM on an ASrock H81M-DGS R2.0 Micro TX motherboard. I would take a picture but don't have the means to right now.

Thermal paste is almost always electrically non conductive but thermally very conductive. Unless you have a scratched trace or it goes directly onto the CPU socket pins, there will not be an issue. There is a small protective layer on the motherboard PCB to protect the traces from being shorted from wear and tear during installation.

That puts my mind at ease. I made sure it wasnt pushed on to any of the socket pins so thanks for the info.

When available though, please post an close up image on the forum so I can tell you for sure if you are in danger or not. With some bad luck, you could be really close to a open circuit which could stop your system from booting (it would not damage anything). It would be a bummer if your PC just sopped booting 6 months down the road without any knowledge as to why.

I will do that later today.

Alright here is a pic, it may be hard to see but it was as close and clear as I could get it. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t34.0-12/10850439_10152541776536592_70011348_n.jpg?oh=47112fac40a936fdcd58e80a93f1d8eb&oe=54975ACF&__gda__=1419178863_3233c605e21b748c391fc78f2a49c57d
