I'm building a new "bleeding edge" system. I'll be running an FX53 chip on the Asus 8V Deluxe. I'm using a Spire heatsink specifically designed for Athalon FX. I know the 939's run cooler that other Athalons, I'm just curious about what thermal paste I should consider. I've done some research, checking the comments at NewEgg and sech, but I figured I'd come to the source and ask you guys.

I know pads are OUT, I'm just looking for a little guidance on goop.

If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

Why don't you go for a high-end Thermalright SLK948U heatsink? If you haven't built much computers, haven't installed much CPUs, then I recommend Arctic Ceramique, it's much safer.

Or better yet pick up a Prometeia MACHII GT before they're all gone.
