Hi, soon I'll be trying to buy a new case fractal design meshify 2 and psu. I can't replace them myself. I've found someone at a shop who was kind enough to replace it for me (with insurance). Shall I ask to replace the 5 year old thermal paste of my I7 6700 with standard cooler too? The paste has never been changed before but temps won't go above 70 degrees C either. And this is in a case with bad airflow. So do I bother him with this? Or is this useless?

Solution
"Although high-end compounds can maintain efficacy up to 7 years after installation, manufacturers recommend removing any thermal paste from your CPU’s heat-spreader and CPU Cooler every 2-3 years to be on the safe side. "
You are somewhere in between, so unless you know the manufacturer of the current compound in there, its a tricky call.

Unless its one of the better ones, I would rather change it to be on the safer side...

I don't know him but, I do pay him for the replacement. So maybe I could offer him some more to replace my paste as well.
