my kraken x 61 already has thermal paste on it do i still need to apply thermal paste to my my amd fx 8350

If the CPU cooler has the thermal paste your fine. If aftermarket coolers have thermal paste that's even better. Just replace your thermal paste when you see thermal problems or every 3 years

thermal paste should be applied in an allmost transparently thin layer, if any paste comes out the sides when you mount the cooler, you overdid it.

You shouldnt reuse thermal paste or thermal pads and as stated, reapply every 3 years if you ever have tech last that long.

Either apply a small pea sized drop or a thin X mark.

The stock paste on most CLCs is very good. You're fine using what it came with.

Also follow the recommendations above about replacing it every few years.
