not had to apply this in the past, as it has came pre applied on my hs/fans

do i apply it to the bottom of the heatsink or to the top of the processor?

there are 4 circular rubber like pads on the processor that the hs/fan sits
on should i place it in the middle of these 4 pads? the thermal paste that
is.

thanks (in advance)

Chris

apply a thin coat to the rectangle piece in the middle of the cpu

What processor is it?

No you just apply a very small amount to the processor thermal diode pad in
the middle do not apply any on the four round pads and make sure its only a
very small amount about the size of a pea.

the point of themal paste is to give better heat conduction between the cpu
core, and the heatsink, so you place it where the 2 connect, remeber the cpu
core is the metal chunk in the middle in thew case of amd xp's, current p4's
and amd 64's are more chunky core (they have more metal around the core
thats all)
