Thermal Trip

I have dual core processor 3.00Gz and
D945GCL mother board.
My PC has done 2 times thermal trip within 1 month But i am pasting heat sink gel 2 times so i know that it is harmful to our processor or motherboard ??Please Reply how to improve my Internal processor temperature ??

To improve cpu temps,

properly apply thermal grease
properly install the heatsink/cpu cooler
improve airflow inside the case

Are the push pins all the way in if that is what you are using?
Check the back of the motherboard.
