Question Thermalright contact frame not tightening;

Hello all,

I hope you are all well.

Currently building my new PC, trying to install the Thermalright contact frame and it will not tighten at all to my mobo (Asus ROG STRIX Z790-E).

I’m not sure if I’m missing something or? I looked at the back on the motherboard to where the screws are being tightened and there is no sort of backplate or anything that the screws should be tightening into, they are just looping. Not sure what’s up! Looking for some advice!

Hello, yes I did. The screws just will not tighten at all. I even tried just to just tighten one screw for like five minutes and they won’t tighten. The frame can only go in one orientation so I am positive I have it the right way (I know I do from watching videos as a reference). Not sure why I can’t tighten them…

There should definitely be a backplate of some sort on pretty much every LGA1700 board AFAIK. This is a shot of the back of what I believe is the same board as yours.
